About Bonavita: the good life, brewed properly

Fifteen years of SCA-certified coffee makers, one Italian name, and a single idea: café-quality coffee at home, without the ceremony.

What does Bonavita mean?

Bonavita is Italian for “the good life”. Not the showroom kind. The Tuesday kind: a kitchen that smells like fresh coffee at seven in the morning, a machine you trust, a cup that tastes the way the café down the street does it.

That name is the whole brief. Bonavita makes coffee makers, kettles and carafes for people who want specialty coffee at home without turning the kitchen into a lab. One button, the right temperature, an even extraction. The machine does the work. You drink the coffee.

From Seattle coffee country to competition tables

Bonavita is an American brand with roots in Seattle coffee culture and a long manufacturing partnership with Smartco. From the start, the target was not a cheaper machine. It was a measurable standard: the Golden Cup, defined by the Specialty Coffee Association and the Coffee Brewing Center.

Every Bonavita coffee maker is an SCA Certified Home Brewer. That means independent testing of brewing temperature, brew time and extraction, the same criteria used to judge professional equipment. Bonavita machines have been used by judges in World Coffee Competitions, and tested in the kitchens of Wirecutter, Forbes, CNET and Bon Appétit.

What we make

The lineup on the Bonavita World Official Website is short on purpose. Four Bonavita coffee makers, from the Connoisseur 8 cup to the compact 5 cup. Three gooseneck kettles with by-the-degree temperature control. Carafes, baskets and tanks for every machine, because a brewer should be repairable, not disposable.
